Accounts Semi Senior/Senior

Stevenage office

Job Purpose 

To manage a portfolio of clients dealing with their annual accounts and management accounting requirements providing a high standard of professionalism along with quality of service.  Manage and organise work effectively to ensure that targets are met and standards maintained in accordance with the relevant accounting standards

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage a portfolio of account clients and be their main point of contact. This will be a mixture of companies, LLPs, Partnerships, and sole traders, in a variety of industries
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required
  • Prepare financial statements and year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in accordance with the relevant accounting standards
  • Organise your flow of work, allocating assignments and managing your time as necessary taking into consideration your client deadlines and other constraints
  • Ensure that work is delivered within budget and time requirements
  • Prepare schedules for Tax returns
  • Complete VAT returns, Company Accounts and CT600s
  • Liaise with 3rd parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers, other members of your team, payroll bureau, etc)
  • Take part in client meetings as and when required

Skills, Qualifications and other Requirements

  • Good I.T. skills
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to work as part of a team, yet also work using own initiative.
  • AAT/ACCA qualified or study support may be provided.
  • Qualified by experience
  • General Practice experience
  • Ability to travel to client premises from time to time and between offices
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven analytical skills

We are looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper.  Our ideal candidate should have good bookkeeping and management accounts experience and have a good working knowledge of VAT.  Excellent knowledge of Sage, Xero accounting software is essential as is experience of quick books and other accountancy software packages.

Experienced Accounts Manager

We are looking for a professionally (ACA/ACCA) qualified manager that has significant experience (at least 5 years post qualification) working as a general practitioner with owner managed businesses.

The role

An excellent opportunity for someone wishing to further their career with a progressive Top 40 firm of Chartered Accountants. The role involves the management of an existing portfolio of owner managed businesses as well as a desire to help continue the growth aspirations of the office. You will be required to plan, supervise, review and deliver work to a high standard direct to Partners and clients alike.

The role is much more than just compliance and involves dealing with all aspects of client and team management including client project work, tax planning, control/delivery of management services, team training and involvement in business development activities.

Essential skills and experience

  • Understanding and technical application of UK GAAP for small businesses
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax rules/legislation in particular, good working knowledge of Corporation tax, Income tax & VAT and an awareness/overview of Capital taxes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Desire to train team members and pass on knowledge/experience
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a desire to continue to develop the role/portfolio

Helpful skills and experience
