Tax Senior/Manager

Grantham or Peterborough Office

We are looking to recruit a Full Time Tax Senior/Assistant Manager or Manager to manage a portfolio of personal and business tax clients ensuring compliance with HMRC and in-house deadlines.  The successful candidate should ideally have experience of preparing tax computations and returns for Manager/Partner review, reviewing tax work prepared by non-tax specialists and the provision of advice on tax liabilities, working within tax law and HMRC provisions.  We would be keen to hear from individuals with a reasonable level of tax experience.

The role will also be supporting the Tax Partner to assist in the provision of tax advisory services across the Peterborough and Grantham offices and wider practice. There is scope for upward progression and involvement in business development activities to help grow the two offices.

This position would suit a newly qualified accountant looking to specialise in Taxation or someone with wider experience.  Training will be provided to the suitable candidate if required and we are therefore looking for a motivated individual who is keen to learn.

The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate Accounting function to a varied client base both in the office and at the offices of clients. Cloud & Management Accountant

Cambridge office

We are looking for someone to join the Cloud Accounting Services team to assist in the transfer and implementation of cloud-based accounts software to new and existing clients, prepare management accounts for clients (on and off site) and assist the main accounts department with accounts preparation.

The role will involve working alongside the department director and offer the opportunity to shape the growing cloud accounting services offered by the firm, including Xero, QBO and Sage Accounting (Cloud) – our ‘cloud software’ solutions.

The role will be a main focal point for the firm’s cloud accounting services.

The Role

Cloud Accounting Services

  • Visiting clients/prospect clients to demonstrate and discuss the benefits and to consider migration to the cloud
  • Advising on improving efficiencies and best use of cloud and connected technologies
  • Preparation of system reviews and quotations for consultancy services
  • On-boarding clients and data migration from existing accounting system to Xero/ QBO/ Sage Accounting
  • Set up and configuration of software
  • Training clients on cloud software
  • Researching suitable apps connecting to cloud accounting systems
  • Troubleshooting system issues
  • Actively promoting cloud accounting for the firm - internally and externally
  • Training staff internally on cloud software
  • Undertake formal and self-led training to keep up to date with new cloud accounting developments and share the knowledge gained as appropriate

 Management Accounts Services

  • Preparation of periodic management accounts for clients – on cloud or existing desktop software
  • Desktop review of client records, including advising clients of correction needed or updating client records as required
  • Assisting clients with general accounting and cloud software queries both remotely and at client premises
  • Preparation of VAT returns as part of management accounts services

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience using Xero for at least 2 years plus ideally QBO and /or Sage Accounting (Cloud)
  • Experience using Sage 50 desktop also an advantage
  • Experience working in an accountancy practice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound understanding of accounts preparation
  • Ability to adapt and respond to changing deadlines and priorities
  • Experience providing clients one to one and larger group training desirable
  • Organisational skills
  • Ability to work both alone, with clients and in a team – clear communication skills including keeping respective parties up to date with progress/issues etc.
  • The role will require you to work with a number of partners and managers across the office and practice and require some travel to other offices
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, problem solving, patience and understanding of different learning styles
  • Ability to drive and own or have access to a vehicle
  • Ability to advise clients on basic accounting queries in general
  • Network and develop business contacts
  • Ad hoc administration tasks as required
  • AAT/ ACCA/ ACA desirable

Audit & Accounts Senior

Hull Office

We are looking to recruit an experienced and professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA) Audit and Accounts Senior for our Hull Office.

The successful candidate will be involved in Audit work and depending on previous audit experience will take on the management role for some clients within this function. Experience of the supervision and training of junior members of staff will be useful however of more importance to us is the ability to develop good working relationships with new and existing clients. They will also be expected to undertake accounts preparation as part of their role.

To be considered candidates should have the relevant technical experience (preferably at least 2 years post qualification practice experience) and competence. They should be ambitious and self motivated with the desire to develop their career and possess good interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to prioritise their time and meet deadlines. Academy experience would be an advantage.
